LUDHIANA: To promote kitchen gardening among the residents, Ludhiana deputy commissioner Surabhi Malik on Friday launched a special vegetable seed kit containing seeds of vegetables grown during the summer season.
While providing information about this kit, Malik said that this kit contains seeds of vegetables such as bottle gourd, sponge gourd, bitter gourd, pumpkin, long melon, cluster beans, Tinda, cucumber, ladyfinger, and others. The cost of each kit is Rs 80 and these can be grown easily on four-marla land.
Malik said that if these vegetables were grown in a planned manner, it can provide fresh vegetables for a family for six months.
Horticulture deputy director Narinder Pal Kalsi said that along with the seeds, this kit also includes a pamphlet containing details of ways to manage these crops. He said these kits could be purchased from the department’s main office or block-level offices.
